What is AVID tutorial?
Tutorial helps students who might be having a difficult time in a class. You will break into groups of students who have similar questions to you, and one at a time, you will go through the questions until everyone has a solution. To be apart of a tutorial group, you must come prepared with a TRF, or Tutorial Request Form. A TRF is basically a form for your question. When you are all finished filling the form out, and you are into your groups, you begin helping one another with each of your questions. The important thing to remember is to not tell your classmates the answer. To understand more about how to help your classmate find a solution, visit this link: /levels-of-inquiry.html
How do I fill out a TRF?
Filling out a TRF is simple once you get the hang of how to do it. On the front page, you have to state your original question, identify any vocabulary, state what you already know, think about your question, and identify the general process to find a solution. For help with filling a TRF out, ask your AVID elective teacher, they would be glad to help! On the backside of this form, you reflect your question by telling your teacher what you learned, how you understood the question, and so on.
* If you would like a free blank TRF, scroll to the bottom of the page.
What if I don't have a question?
Before you fill out a TRF, you should go through your Cornell Notes from each class to generate a question from something you didn't understand. Your TRF questions should be at a higher level. If you don't know what that mean, please visit this link: /costas-level-of-thinking.html
